In 2018, WorkSafeBC granted UBC funds for a project (RS2018-SP39) to help sustain and grow the Occupational Exposure Data holdings known as CWED (Canadian Workplace Exposure Database).
The investigator team comprises: Hugh Davies (UBC), Cheryl Peters (U Calgary) and Jérôme Lavoué (UdeM).
The objectives of the grant are to:
- Secure the existing Canadian Work Exposure Database;
- Make data more widely available to researchers and knowledge users;
- Improved data management;
- Improve stakeholder knowledge of the database; and
- Explore database potential
- Explore sustaining funding models
The key action items are seen as:
- Review and Update Governance & Data Stewardship
- New Data Sharing Agreements (MOU)
- New Steering, and Data Management Committees
- Data Management
- Develop Data Storage, Security, and Access Policy and Procedures
- KT
- Website, Webinars, Workshops
It is hoped that this project will lay the groundwork for a sustainable national exposure data resource that will protect and “mobilize” the existing data holdings while providing a platform for new data acquisition and novel data tools for a wide variety of stakeholders.
