The Canadian Workplace Exposure Database was originally developed as part of the CAREX Canada project to support the estimation of exposure prevalence to occupational carcinogens.
While CAREX Canada remains its primary partner, CWED is a stand-alone entity and offers considerable promise for OHS researchers, practitioners and policy makers.
In addition to data on carcinogens, CWED also collected data on non-carcinogens, offering the ability to examine issues around other workplace toxins such as respiratory toxins, dermatological agents, reproductive toxins, etc..
In addition data was collected that covers a considerable time span and many jurisdictions, allowing the the investigations of spatial and temporal trends in exposure levels.
